Graffiti Removal

The graffiti destruction of Huntington had grown into a serious problem by 2009. Several area volunteers decided that enough was enough and started both individually cleaning up “tags” and arranging clean-up days throughout the spring and summer. Aaron-Michael Fox focused on the downtown, while  Casey Williams centered most of his efforts in the Southside. Tom Bell helped to train people on how to safely clean up graffiti, while Byron Clercx mobilized more citizen clean-up.

This is an ongoing volunteer project that has found the support of citizens, the City, area businesses and local organizations.

The city has setup a graffiti reporting tool at the Citizen Support Center online at http://mygovhelp.us/huntingtonwv. There is also a form you can download and fill out which can be emailed to Tom Bell (the city’s representative on the HBC). I’ve put the form online athttp://saferhuntington.com/graffiti along with instructions on how to send it to Mr. Bell.
