Since 2007, HARC (Huntington Area Revitalization Coalition), a volunteer led project, has been working to beautify the Harris Riverfront Park, the 13th St Veteran’s Memorial, and other areas of of the city. Their goal is to add flower, foliage and fun to places often forgotten. HARC believes that beautification efforts attract new visitors, bolsters civic pride, reduces crime and increases community use of these wonderful locations.
In 2010, HARC was granted a Create Huntington matching grant, which helped their hardworking volunteers maintain the HRFP rose gardens, to fill roundabout and planters with seasonal flowers, and to maintain and replace flowers as needed.
