The true vehicle for transforming our city is through community driven projects.  ”Citizen creators” are the brave souls who venture out of their homes and comforts to be the change they hope to see in Huntington. Create Huntington’s purpose is to empower and facilitate YOU in creating the Huntington we love to live in, and we do this in a variety of ways:

Step 1 – SHARE: We invite people with ideas to join us at a “Chat-n-Chew” on Thursday evenings at 5:30pm.  There, kindred spirits meet and create the synergy to move from the idea stage to the action stage.  Many ideas move through the think tank, some developing further into Community Projects.

Step 2 – CONNECT: We use social media (FB Group, Google+, Twitter) and email communication (join our email list) to our hundreds of members to “spread the word” that a new project is forming .  We encourage people to volunteer, donate and network to support these budding projects.

Step 3 – GRANTS: As a project builds steam and needs money to move further, Create Huntington can help!  We have a Matching Minigrant Program which awards up to $500 in matching funds for any project which makes Huntington a better place to live, and up to $250 in matching scholarship towards educational opportunities. We also encourage project leaders to attend a CAFE Huntington dinner to raise funds.

Step 4 – LEADERSHIP: The Create Huntington Institute (CHI) will be offering classes and workshops on topics such as: Grantwritng, the use of social media to support your project, community organizing, finding volunteers, community resources,  meeting etiquette and more!  Our CHI workshops will help empower our members to move past their limits and fears to successfully create the Huntington we love to live in.  Check the Events page for upcoming dates and topics.
